Must-Visit Dog Walking Spots in Bordeaux : The Ultimate Guide for Dog Lovers

Bordeaux is a city full of charm, delicious wines, and… plenty of paw-some spots to explore with your dog! Known for being particularly dog-friendly, the city offers a warm welcome to four-legged visitors and locals alike. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this guide has you covered. We’ve put together two routes — a short one for a quick stroll, and a longer one if you’re up for a proper adventure. Get ready to sniff out the best dog-friendly walks in the city!

The Short Walk (Day trip)

  1. Start in the city center
Begin your walk on "rue du Pas-Saint-Georges", a calm and peaceful street just a short walk from the busy heart of Bordeaux. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing stroll with your dog. You’ll find lovely local shops and small boutiques — ideal for picking up a little souvenir. Most of them are dog-friendly, so your pup can join you inside while you explore. This street offers a quieter vibe while still feeling very Bordeaux. Another great option is "rue des Remparts", a peaceful street with charming shops and beautiful old buildings. You can stop by SIP Coffee Bar, it's located on a parallel street just next to "rue des Remparts", a great spot to take a break during your walk.

  2. Stop at the "Jardin Public"
Next, head to the "Jardin Public", one of the most relaxing parks in town. It’s a large green space with plenty of room for your dog to explore. There’s grass to play on, shady trees, and a calm pond — perfect for a peaceful break. The park also includes a dedicated dog area where pups can run freely and play with their furry friends!

  3. Come through the Chartrons district
Keep walking into the Chartrons district, a lovely neighborhood that feels like a small village. "Rue Notre-Dame" is full of cool concept stores, art galleries, and antique shops. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to take your time and soak in the vibe. And while you’re there… don’t forget to stop by Muzon, we’d love to see you ! Come say hi, meet Charlie the mascot 🐶, and enjoy the good vibes. We’re always super happy to welcome dog lovers!

  4. Optional pause at a dog-friendly café
Need a break? There are some great dog-friendly cafés nearby. Head to Homie's (for brunch) in the city center for a chill moment, or stop by Pickles (for dinner) on "rue Notre-Dame". Both spots are perfect for enjoying a coffee while your pup gets some love and attention.

The Long Walk (2 days trip)

  1. Start at Parc de l’Ermitage
Begin your walk at the Parc de l’Ermitage, a peaceful hidden gem on the right bank of Bordeaux. It’s quiet, green, and never too crowded — perfect for a relaxed stroll. You’ll find shady paths, calm vibes, and even a small hill with a beautiful view of the city.

  2. Stop by Darwin
Next, head over to Darwin, a creative and eco-friendly space full of life. It’s known for its chill atmosphere, street art, cafés, and sustainable shops. It’s also dog-friendly — so grab a coffee, take a look around, and enjoy the cool energy with your pup by your side.

  3. Explore the Jardin Botanique
Then make your way to the Jardin Botanique, a peaceful botanical garden full of interesting plants and wide walking paths. It’s the perfect place for a calm break.

  4. Walk along the river and cross the bridges
To finish your walk, follow the river and cross the bridges that link both sides of Bordeaux. It’s about 5 km in total, with amazing views from the right bank. The route is easy and mostly flat, with grassy areas where your dog can run or chill. You’ll pass by open spaces, calm paths, and picture-perfect city views — the ideal way to end your Bordeaux adventure.

Whether you want a short walk or a longer adventure, Bordeaux is full of great places to explore with your dog. Quiet streets, green parks, pretty views, and dog-friendly cafés — there’s always something fun to do together.
So grab the leash, some treats, and enjoy the city step by step (or paw by paw)!

And if you’re near the Chartrons district, come say hi at Muzon — we’d be so happy to see you and your dog !
